Full Circle (2024) is a permanent outdoor work, comprising seven colored metal circles, installed at the affordable housing site Benton Crossing in Columbia, SC. The city has an ordinance requiring buildings with ground floor parking to incorporate public art onto their facades.
Full Circle takes inspiration from iconic and historic elements found in surrounding neighborhoods, including streetcars, front porches, and tree-lined streets as well as the landscape’s topography and the water flowing through it. The design uses lines and blocks of color to transform features of the landscape and built environment into a fluid abstraction rooted in place. Viewers are invited to find their own place within these “landscapes” and to find new details and mysteries on each visit.
